Final spreads from the standards poster book, scanned. Pleased with how this has turned out considering the short amount of time I actually ended up spending on it.

I think I achieved what I was going for in a rough and loosely bound book with pages of varying sizes, providing something a bit more interesting and tactile than a perfect bound book. This also wouldn't have been possible because of the nature of the pages being made up of folded pages. The folds allow the posters to read like a book on one side and a poster on the other, without either side affecting the other.

I think despite the amount of different formats, it still holds together really well as a book, probably down to the use of font and format.

Standards posters - final posters

The ten final posters for the standards poster book. all of which will be digitally printed onto different stocks to change the effect the print has. Tried to keep a fairly clean and simple modernist aesthetic, with a layout that stays consistent without having to keep the body of information the same. So I went for a layout of page information that stays the same, with the number of each poster at the top and bottom in the same format each time. I am pleased with the majority of these, especially the overlay posters, as these seemed to lend themselves to this kind of treatment. The others tend to focus more on the stock that they are printed on to give the design a little more.

Standards posters - Folding

The printed A2 poster fresh from the print room ready to be folded into the book format, which in this case will be A5. 

The first fold is all the way down the middle splitting he page into 2 length ways. The poster side is on the inside here.

It is then folded again in the middle, revealing all the inside pages. These are then folded again, with the end of the page folded towards the edge of the page that's already been folded. This creates a booklet like fold with four inner page.

When these two pages are folded together they will be inside the bind, however when the bind is opened they will be revealed along with the poster on the other side. There are a number of ways that these pages can fold and be looked at, which I think is an effective way to make it more interesting.

After talking to Andy it came up that it might be better to think about how the posters will be delivered in order to have the maximum effect. He mentioned possibly ways that the posters could be folded or used to wrap round something else like a small publication. I wanted to work on this format and produce a publication from a series of posters bound together, all in different formats and stocks.
