Here are some of the original faces that I began with. This is a Baskerville bolf italic which I used along with Helvetica Neue in my final face. Although I used a different italic for my finals.
This is Didot which I worked with quite a bit because it is a nice serif face, however i discarded it for a hybrid serif created later in development.
