Visual language...Image through space.
In this session we worked with the idea of creating images on different plains within a space. The channel 4 Idents are a good example of these where the camera pans around a seemingly random cluster of objects to reveal the signature 4. Our group, was tasked with creating an 'M' on various plains. We decided to use three plains but go for a fairly large distance between the first and last. This meant that we could break the letter into the two stems and the bridge section in the middle. To begin with we worked out our plains and created a template to work from visually. This was simply and 'M' cut out and hung at the point which we wanted it to be viewed from. Building the letter gradually from the left stem close up, and the right stem at an angle on the back wall, using the template to look through as a visual guide it started to take shape. The third section of the letter, the Bridge over the middle, we created fairly large and then struggled to hang it from anywhere so took to holding it between the two points.
