Natural Hair Colours

A person's genes determine the hair/skin/eye colour since before his or her birth. The determinants for hair colour are known as melanocytes. These cells form the natural hair colours, or pigments and distinguish between black, brown, and red. Depending on the percentage of each pigment, the person has blonde, brown, red or black hair. As the melanocytes decay during a lifetime, the hair becomes a dull grey and later on it turns into a whitish colour.

The Human Hair

Hair covers the whole body, with the exception of soles of feet, palms of hands, mucous membranes, and lips.
The lifespan of a human hair is 3 to 7 years in the average.
For good hair health, try wholemeal products, eggs, liver, kidneys, vitamin D, herrings, salmon, carrots, green vegetables, and vitamin C.
Pigments give the hair its colour. When we age, hair receives fewer pigments and turns grey or white.

In a lifetime, an average man will shave 20,000 times.

Humans have about the same number of hair follicles as a chimpanzee has.

Hair will fall out faster on a person that is on a crash diet.

The average human head weighs about eight pounds.

The reason why some people get a cowlick is because the growth of their hair is in a spiral pattern, which causes the hair to either stand straight up, or goes to a certain angle.

The longest human beard on record is 17.5 feet, held by Hans N. Langseth who was born in Norway in 1846.

Hair is made from the same substance as fingernails.

Eyebrow hair lasts between 3-5 months before it sheds.

Questions…

What is the first celebrity or famous hairstyle that comes into your head?

What type of hair do you prefer?

If you could have any hairstyle, what would it be?

Sophie Wilson elvis' hair is the first that comes to mine for me- rockabilly quiffed hair on men ~for the win~. i like curly hair best and if i could have any type of hair, it would be...dark, 1940's set perm!

David Gregory Barack Obama, because you have a picture of barack obama...straight, short brown hair

Sadie Thompson David Beckham's just because it changes all the time. or i really like cheryl Cole's hair! I like wavy hair wish mine was more curly. obviously i like red hair, but i wish it was naturally darker and thicker. also dreads are awesome if i could pull them off i would have them

Joe Rose mullet. blonde. curly hair

Charlotte Bourke Uma Thurman (pulp fiction). long hair is good.

Jon Bain  Russell Brand. On girls, scene/punk hair. on me i quite like short hair now. and the 3rd, I'd stick with short hair, long's too much hassle to do anything with

Chris Lawson alex zane's hair is pretty cool - and for the girls probably beyonce or something... something simple you know.

Alyson David Bowie! but just because I was talking about him or Morrissey, maybe.........definitely red because it's unusual to have red hair - probably curly and quite long? But I think that's to do with wanting the opposite to what i've got! about people wanting blond hair because it is meant to be seen as reflecting the sun - blonde hair reflects the sun and blue eyes reflect the sea - that's an ancient proverb I think. also, the Victorians (Pre Raphaelite) thought red hair was the most unusual and beautiful kind - therefore depicted many of the women in their paintings with red hair. gone were the hair extensions popularised by Cheryl Cole...and instead natural beauties with red hair were most popular on the catwalk.....natural colours and natural hair styles! um probably long and very thick!

Steph Morgan cheryl cole...long hair, I would have long red curly hair
