Initial ideas and a fairly detailed plan of the sections we want in the guide. Because we have most of the content for this already we have left it quite a while to start it, however I think we've already had some really nice ideas.
The first being an embossed cover, the guide should be really good quality as it is going to have to have impact. Realistically, it also needs to be really hard wearing as it is going to be carried around and used a lot in probably a fairly short period of time. So in order to achieve this we want a grey board cover, this is a fairly tough material and is also a good backdrop for our next idea, having the title and some page information on a wrap which would be stuck to the front and up the inside cover.
This means that the the imagery on the front, which we hope to blind emboss, will not have to be altered to accommodate for the title and any other information on the cover, the wrap can simply be placed over the top.
We also found that the golden gate bridge has a name for its colour and has also been Pantone swatched and is Pantone 173. So we've got a few ways to go in order to add colour to the greyboard cover.
